2-Day Visit to Uganda Martyrs Shrine
Overview
Embark on a meaningful journey from Gulu to the historic Uganda Martyrs Shrine in Namugongo, one of Africa's most significant Christian pilgrimage destinations. This sacred site commemorates the 45 Ugandan Christians who were martyred between 1885 and 1887 for refusing to renounce their faith.
Today, Namugongo welcomes millions of visitors each year, particularly during the annual Martyrs Day celebrations on 3 June. Beyond its religious importance, the shrine is also a place of remarkable architecture, peaceful gardens, museums, memorial monuments, and historical significance.
