Discover the untamed beauty of Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area, on an unforgettable two-day safari departing conveniently from Gulu City. Situated approximately 140 km southwest of Gulu, the park offers one of the shortest and most rewarding wildlife adventures in Northern Uganda, making it perfect for visitors with limited time who still want an authentic African safari experience.
At the heart of the park lies the spectacular Murchison Falls, where the mighty River Nile forces its way through a narrow seven-metre-wide gorge before crashing 43 metres below into a powerful whirlpool. The thunderous roar, mist-filled air, and dramatic scenery make this one of Uganda’s most iconic natural attractions and a highlight for photographers and nature enthusiasts alike.
The park’s diverse ecosystems—including open savannah, riverine forests, wetlands, and acacia woodlands—support an extraordinary abundance of wildlife. During your adventure, you’ll have opportunities to encounter elephants, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, lions, Uganda kob, hartebeests, warthogs, hippos, Nile crocodiles, and hundreds of bird species, including the famous shoebill stork if conditions are favourable.
One of the most memorable experiences is the boat cruise along the Victoria Nile, where wildlife gathers along the riverbanks before the journey culminates beneath the towering Murchison Falls. Combined with a scenic game drive and a visit to the Top of the Falls viewpoint, this safari offers the perfect balance of adventure, relaxation, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery.
Whether you’re travelling as a family, a couple, a group of friends, or a solo explorer, The Mighty Nile Safari promises an unforgettable journey into one of Africa’s most remarkable wilderness destinations.
